Where diary data and media live

Entry text is stored in the app’s local data. Photos and videos remain in the system Photos library, while voice recordings remain in the Diary Threads app container.

Deleting an original Photos asset may still leave the protected app copy available. Verified Premium users can turn on private iCloud sync for recovery across their devices. Device replacement, app deletion, system backup choices, and Photos settings still affect recovery; the app has no developer diary server.

App Lock and Home Screen widgets

App Lock arms when Diary Threads reaches the background. Temporary inactive states created by system pickers or authentication prompts keep the current foreground session available.

When App Lock is enabled, widget snapshots hide entry text. Open Diary Threads and authenticate before expecting private content to appear again.

Beta import, export, and imported-content management

Premium import works locally with TXT, Markdown, RTF or RTFD text, HTML, JSON, CSV or TSV, DOCX, PDF text or OCR, and recognized X, Instagram, or Facebook archive ZIPs. Diary Threads does not sign in to those services, fetch remote pages, or import media from social archives.

The Share Extension can place plain text or a URL in a local inbox for the foreground app to preview. Export creates a photo-aware DOCX or a Markdown ZIP. Imported Content Management can remove imported threads while preserving ordinary local entries; all three Settings rows are marked Beta in version 0.4.

Premium, purchases, and restore

The App Store manages Monthly and Lifetime transactions. Diary Threads uses verified StoreKit entitlements and includes Restore Purchases, Manage Subscription, Redeem Offer Code, Privacy Policy, and Apple Standard EULA actions.

If a purchase remains pending, access follows the latest verified entitlement. A canceled purchase stays silent. For other failures, record the visible recovery message and contact support without sending payment details.

FAQ

Questions about this topic

Can the developer read or restore my entries?

The app has no developer diary server or app account. Recovery starts with local copies and system backups; verified Premium users can also use private iCloud sync across their devices.

Why is media missing from an older entry?

Diary Threads tries the original Photos asset first and then its protected app copy. A placeholder appears only when neither source is available.

What should I include in a support email?

Include the feature, reproduction steps, expected and actual behavior, iPhone model, iOS version, and app version. Keep private diary text out of the message.
